Theatre

I trained in Drama, Culture & Society at London’s Central School of Speech and Drama, one of the most respected drama schools in Europe and have since specialised in childrens and physical theatre. I have written and directed many plays for a variety of theatre groups and professional theatres and still thrive on taking theatre instruction to stand on it’s own (e.g non performance based).

With my work in childrens and youth theatre, I am a strong believer that the true gains lie in the ‘doing’, meaning that my value does not rest heavily on the performance but on the participation in the training. Theatre is one of the best ways I have found of building self-confidence, expression and quite simply, a way of discovering who you are and what you would like to say. I have never enjoyed theatre where I can see that confident individuals are repeated given main roles and shy individuals kept hidden at the back of the stage. I believe theatre is a place for evolution and change and encourgae this not just by a philosophy i carry but with unique instruction that turns a lot of traditional theatre on it’s head. Give me a stage and I will put the audience on it and perform in the auditorium! I also believe theatre can be done by anyone regardless of perceived talent and can be performed anywhere, regardless of lights, props and costumes. I am always interested in running workshops, not just with children and youth but for any group that would like to push the boundaries of what their bodies and collaborative minds can do!
